  • Started my bricklaying apprenticeship working for one of the largest commercial masonry contractors in Northern California. I started working as a project foreman after 3 years into the BAC apprenticeship program. I worked for the same company for 10 years.
  • Estimated and sent all bid proposals, processed change orders, reviewed and signed contracts, processed billing for percentage completed, ordered all material for jobs, assigned all crews for projects, scheduled all material and equipment for delivery to jobsite, held monthly foreman meetings to discuss jobsite progress and setbacks, reviewed monthly, quarterly and yearly financials.
  • Within 5 years we were working on large government projects, working with the Army Core of engineers on projects at Beale AFB and Travis AFB. We also built many title 24 schools, Jails, Water Treatment plants, Parks, and various other government projects.
  • We were a Union shop and had 5 foreman and approximately 50 employees.
  • President of the Northern Masonry Contractors Association in 2004 and 2005.

Performed weekly subcontractor meetings, met with new buyers to ensure finishes were per plans and specifications. Scheduled city inspections for all trades and scheduled reinspection’s for those failed. Ensured subcontractors were on schedule to meet all times lines for completion. Processed all RFI’s and RFQ’s, approved all change orders with new owners. Performed walk through with owner upon completion to ensure their satisfaction.

I was fortunate to work with some of the old time bricklayers that were able to teach me techniques that seem to have been lost over time.
