Work History

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Bp
Whiting, IN
05.2024 - 08.2024
  • Managed the HTRI design and development for three heat exchanger bundles, operating beyond their specified design flow rates. Conducted a comprehensive engineering vibration assessment for these bundles by constructing the complete geometry from the ground up using HTRI and simulating process conditions with an integrated Petro-Sim package.
  • Conducted field walk-downs at various locations with reported pipe vibrations, as identified in an IWR evaluation report. Utilized a triaxial sensor to measure potential vibration risks, capturing velocity (RMS) and frequency (Hz) at each point. Developed an Excel spreadsheet to analyze the data against the Energy Institute's vibration-induced fatigue avoidance chart. Subsequently, performed a professional engineering review to recommend measures for mitigating these risks, thereby enhancing mechanical integrity, personnel safety, and process reliability.
  • Applied mechanical engineering expertise to address backflow issues by replacing a swing gate check valve with an axial flow check valve. Conducted proper sizing for the new valve and replaced the associated warm-up line. Developed a detailed Job Note for the replacement process, which included obtaining a vendor quote, providing a step-by-step guide for operational procedures, and ensuring adherence to ASME protocols.
