  • Effectively interacted with staff, offenders, visitors and public to maintain security within facility. Trained new OIT’s ( Officer in Training ) to run the control center of the unit and how to run the log book. Trained the OIT’s how to conduct tier checks and to complete unit paperwork as well as deal with inmate concerns and handle certain situations such as PREA allegations or emergencies on a tier like flooding or conflicts between inmates.
  • Supervised inmates during all activities and transfers to monitor compliance and implement corrective actions. Posted during yard movements to minimize fights and unauthorized transfer of items from inmate to inmate and to ensure inmates went directly where they were supposed to be going.
  • Conducted pat downs and unclothed body searches of inmates to ensure that there was no drugs or weapons. Conducted 10-15 daily cell searches to check for drugs, tattoo paraphernalia, alcohol, property that did not belong to that inmate and extra fruit to prevent the making of alcohol.
  • Monitored radio transmissions between staff to respond immediately to directions and emergencies.
  • Responded to fights, gave directives to individuals fighting to get on the ground as well as to individuals standing around to return to their bunks immediately and remain there. Called emergencies for fights, medical emergencies and security emergencies.
  • Conducted 30 or 60 minute tier checks depending on the unit. Completed check ins for inmates moving into the unit as well as check outs for inmates moving out of the unit. Completed roll ups for inmates who had gone to segregation or getting moved to another facility. Inventoried the property and boxed it all up and labeled it for transport.
