Key Responsibilities

Third Shift (3rd Shift):

• Serve as the sole Medical Technologist on duty, independently managing all core laboratory sections: Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Perform, validate, and report STAT and routine laboratory tests with precision and within critical turnaround times Maintain lab operations, quality control compliance, and documentation standards during overnight hours.

Second Shift (2nd Shift):

• Work collaboratively with other technologists while holding primary responsibility for Clinical Chemistry analyzer maintenance. Perform calibrations, quality controls, and scheduled preventive maintenance (daily, bi-weekly, and monthly)Provide support across Hematology, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank to ensure consistent quality and workflow coverage.

• Roche Cobas 6000 (Modules e501 & c501) – Automated chemistry analyzer
• RapidPoint 500 – Blood gas analyzer for arterial blood analysis

Hematology:

• Sysmex XN-2000 – Fully automated hematology analyzer
• Cellavision – Digital morphology system for peripheral blood slide review.
• iSED – Automated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) analyzer

Urinalysis:

• Sysmex UF-5000 – Flow cytometry-based analyzer for quantifying formed elements in urine (RBCs, WBCs, epithelial cells, bacteria, casts)
• Siemens Clinitek Novus – Primary automated urine chemistry analyzer (dipstick-based) for high-throughput testing of parameters including glucose, protein, pH, specific gravity, ketones, bilirubin, and more
• Siemens Clinitek Advantus – Backup urine chemistry analyzer used during maintenance or downtime of the Novus.
• Clinitek NOVUS Workstation – Integrated sample management platform facilitating workflow coordination between urinalysis instruments and LIS.

Blood Bank (Transfusion Services):

• Job Duties and Responsibilities:

HEMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT:

• Performs hematological examinations using automated and manual microscopic technique, detection of Hemostasis Abnormalities, Factor and Coagulation Assays, Total Cell Count and Differential Count of other body fluids, Semen Analysis & Fructose Determination, identification of Malarial parasites and identification of LE cells. Prepares reagents and stains. Prepares ideal smears for microscopic examinations.

IMMUNOLOGY AND SEROLOGY DEPARTMENT:

• Performs Serologic tests, Hepatitis Panel, Thyroid Panel, Comprehensive Lupus Panel, HIV quantitative and qualitative testing, Tumor Markers Determination and Treponema pallidum Immunofluorescence Test.

MICROBIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

• Performs Culture and Sensitivity Testing, Gram Staining and Acid Fast Staining, BioFire FilmArray Panels for identification of viruses, bacteria, parasites, yeasts, and antimicrobial resistance genes, performs India Ink Test, KOH Method for fungi, and preparation of different culture media.

CLINICAL CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT:

• Performed routine blood chemistry tests. Conducted Point of Care Testing (Arterial Blood Gas determination) and Electrolyte Panel.

CLINICAL MICROSCOPY DEPARTMENT:

• Performed routine Urinalysis and Fecalysis with chemical and microscopic examination. Examined intestinal parasites and protozoa, urine crystals and casts, Pregnancy Test, and Fecal Occult Blood Test.

BLOOD BANK DEPARTMENT:

• Performed ABO and Rh Typing, Donor Selection and Screening.

MICROBIOLOGY DEPARTMENT:

• Performed (DSSM)Direct Sputum Smear Microscopy and GeneXpert Testing for the detection of Tuberculosis and its sensitivity to different antibiotics.

LABORATORY MANAGEMENT:

• Assesses acceptability of results through quality control and delta checks. Executes maintenance of Laboratory Equipment as well as troubleshooting. Troubleshoot alarms and errors obtained during operation. Managed and Maintained laboratory facilities, supplies and equipment in good working condition at all the time.

PUBLIC HEALTH:

• Travel to other 3 different Government - Managed Public Laboratory performing medical test, conducting in- depth analysis of samples which aids in accurate diagnosis, and support patient care. Member of a medical mission team. Performed Point of Care testing for Blood Lipid Profile and Glucose, routine hematologic determination such as Complete Blood Count and Manual Platelet Count. Conducted HIV community- based testing, blood donation program, and entomological survey for Integrated Vector Management. Conducted Health information and dissemination in the community. Participated in data gathering and response during health emergencies and disasters.

PHLEBOTOMY:

• Performed venipuncture, arterial puncture, capillary puncture and therapeutic phlebotomy. Proficient in blood donation phlebotomy.
