Work History

Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Newman Memorial Hospital
06.2023 - Current

At Newman Memorial the Emergency Department RN is also the House Supervisor and frequently the only RN in the facility at night. Most of our trauma was related to oilfield or Motor vehicle accidents. Psychiatric and Drug and alcohol related patients were also present. Stroke and Cardiac patients. Some pediatric patients mostly non emergent unless it was related to an appendix or a motor vehicle accident.

I went to Newman Memorial Hospital because of a preaching opportunity. I am studying to be an ordained minister, and this was a great learning opportunity. Three months after I got there the church was sold and I stayed because they really needed the help.

I live in Mcloud Oklahoma, but I have family in Seiling Oklahoma I could stay with when I worked, but it was a 55 mile drive each way every day. I stayed to help for a year but now I would like to get back home and to a more active ER.

COVID-19 Unit RN

Fulton County Hospital

Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Rosebud IHS Hospital
05.2018 - 08.2020

I worked in the ER .

In this Emergency Department we are a rural facility. We have Trauma, Cardiac, Stroke, Diabetes, Obstetrics and Psychological related emergencies that are diagnosed, stabilized and then flown out to higher level of care. We occasionally had to deliver babies, a majority of those we delivered were meth addicted babies.

There is a lot of alcoholism and drug addiction here. I have a passion for Recovery and have done a lot of drug and alcohol teaching and provided resources for individuals to find help.

We also have a very high Suicide rate, and we have people from the age of 10 to 70 who we have evaluated by E-Avera telemed Psych staff and then we get them accepted in to inpatient if needed or schedule them with our Behavioral Health.

We have all the same problems as big city hospitals but very limited resources out in this geographical area.

Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Tenova Hospital
06.2019 - 08.2019
  • This was the second busiest ER in Tennessee and it was fast paced and had all the resources that were so beneficial. I did an 8 week contract there and appreciated it so much.
  • Coordinated care with physicians and other clinical staff to prepare for treatment, carry out interventions and enhance continuum of care to deliver comprehensive services.
  • Administered medications, tracked dosages and documented patient conditions.
  • Monitored and recorded patient condition, vital signs, recovery progress and medication side effects.
  • At this facility I got to see first hand the heroin addiction and subsequent devastation of people and their families.

I worked in the Emergency department which consisted of 7 ER Rooms with 2 separate trauma bays, and  6 fast track rooms.

Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Pine Ridge IHS Hospital
08.2016 - 12.2017
This was a small ED with a lot of extremely ill patients. There is a very high acuity due to Alcohol abuse, Drug abuse, Diabetes and Dialysis patients in this area. There is a lot of Psycho-social concerns on this Reservation and I was able to start an AA NA group there with the approval of the management at this facility. I really felt needed there and it was one of the best experiences in Nursing I have had.

Cornerstone LTAC

This was a long term acute care hospital where people went for physical therapy and rehabilitation, both medical and physical. We had an intensive care area where higher acuity patients that were on drips and needed one on one or one on 2 nursing care were placed.    I started as a Floor Nurse and was primarily in the ICU, and then was given the Charge Nurse position.  I learned a lot about scheduling and dealing with staff in this position.

I was a nurse in the medical department of a women's prison. The job did not suit me. I view all people as equals and the job required inmates to be treated as lower class than the staff and it was very military like.
