  • Directed all aspects of the largest emergency food program in Brooklyn and managed an annual food budget over $1.5 million from multiple funding sources including: HPNAP direct contract from New York State Department of Health; EFAP (Emergency Food Assistance Program) and EFSP (Emergency Food and Shelter Program).
  • A member of the Senior Management Operations Team, charged with facilitating communication across all departments to identify priorities and key issues. Participated in the agency’s Five Year Strategic planning to redefine our identity and mission in a neighborhood being transformed by gentrification.
  • Directed broad nutrition and wellness education initiatives including farm visits, farmer’s market tours, cooking demonstrations and tastings and weekly Local Produce Link vegetable distribution with “Veggie Educators”. Developed partnerships to conduct weekly classes and workshops with New York Cares, Food Bank For New York City, Just Food, City Harvest, Sylvia Center, Hudson Valley Seed Library, Heritage Foods USA, “Supper Clubs” with guest chefs.
  • Managed a staff of 8 and up to 50 volunteers on any given day. Directly trained staff and volunteers in basic to advanced culinary skills and client service delivery. Implemented food safety best practices and directed menu planning and recipe development. Developed and managed vendor relationships.
  • Coordinated, tracked and reported in-kind donations. Advocated on poverty and hunger issues through participating in media tours, interviews, press conferences and hosting visits by elected officials. In addition lobbied in Albany and Washington, DC and co-hosted Food Action Board with Hunger Free America (formerly New York City Coalition Against Hunger - NYCCAH).

  • Supervised and coordinated volunteers and interns from Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, Summer Youth Program, AmeriCorps, Queens College, LaGuardia College, and International Center for Disabilities. Also supervised and mentored previously incarcerated residents of our transitional and permanent housing program.
  • Managed the Queens host site for Urban Justice Center’s Public Assistance Legal Clinic and Food Bank for NYC’s tax assistance clinic. Coordinated Long Island City Food Action Board, a community advocacy group working on food justice issues in partnership with NYCCAH.
  • Hosted Long Island City Community Supported Agriculture group at the pantry. I served on the working group which facilitated framer contracts, memberships, and pick ups.
