Currently, I am retired and my licenses are not current. I volunteer at my local Humane Society. Member of a pet therapy group called 'Wags'. Wonderful Animals giving support. Associated with a near by rescue, 'Frankie's Furry Friends'. I have rescued 2 pups for myself through this agency. I raised 6 children on a 60 acre farm with cattle, goats, horses, chickens, and 9 Great Pyrenees.
I do feel that my years as a nurse and a missionary and my love of animals would make me perfect for this position. I have stayed the night with many a patient and family as death approached. I seemed to be able to give the family comfort and make sure the patient showed no signs of suffering.
Four Years. While I lived in Charlotte, NC, I became involved with a group called 'Mission Charlotte'. Very coordinated group that kept 20 pair boots on the ground at all times. We were mostly in Chiapas, Mexico. My group was made of Doctors, Surgeons, Nurses, and myself, a Nurse Practitioner with a pilots license. The closet hospital was a 4 hour flight to Mexico City. Often a villager needed more than we could offer in the jungle and we got them back to the host village where I flew them to Mexico City. A rickety old Cessna. My group went into villages after they were slaughtered by Cartels. I can still speak a bit of Spanish.
Four summers in the Appalachians. Gave the year round volunteer Doctors a summer off.
Four summers on three different Indian Reservations. Navajo, Hopi, Lakota. I am Cherokee myself.
Two years on the Leper Colony of Molokai, Hawaii. Truly loved every minute.
I do feel that I can be empathetic and helpful to pet parents during a time of anxiousness and impending loss.
I have 2 spare bedrooms in my home and can make a designated office. My laptop is current and has a webcam.
I am a breast cancer survivor and doing very well health wise.
I am really only looking for pastime and can do any shift and would be very reliable.
I raised six foster/adopted children who have made me very proud.
