-Provide expert knowledge and oversight of payer rules and regulations for both hospital and physician radiation oncology billing.
-Make decisions to strengthen procedures and implement changes as needed to ensure optimal reimbursement within regulatory requirements.
-Liaison between the University, Joint Ventures, and Revenue Cycle locations regarding all radiation oncology reimbursement matters.
-Provide oversight for both pre and post radiation oncology revenue accounts.
-Manage daily operations of the radiation oncology department.
-Oversee physician and department billing/coding.
-Develop capital expense requests and oversee annual operating budget.
-Hire, develop, discipline and evaluate radiation therapists, dosimetry, physics, nursing, clerical support staff, and social worker.
-Develop and maintain quality assurance program and departmental policies and procedures.
-Negotiate contracts with department vendors.
-Participate in monthly organizational cancer committee meetings.
-Attend and participate in continuing education and leadership classes to promote own growth.
-Administer, document, and evaluate prescribed radiation therapy treatments.
-Preform daily quality assurance checks on treatment units and simulator.
-Fabricate immobilization devices and treatment aids in simulation.
-Maintain professional licensure, certifications, and unit-specific competencies as required by hospital and all regulatory standards.
-Provide support to patients and their families, helping them throughout the challenges of undergoing radiation therapy treatment.
