Answer incoming calls and direct visitors to appropriate personnel. Act as floor building maintenance executive reporting and resolving maintenance and cleanliness issues.
Hourly Worker and other personnel management changes: facilitate and hire all hourly workers in Workday from initial creation of position to onboarding of all new positions. Train and assist faculty and student workers in hiring process and time entry.
Human Resource Management: Conduct interviews and create itineraries for potential job applicants. Assist with hiring, resolving conflicts, and continued management of Department personnel. Adhere to Division of Agriculture, University of Arkansas policies and procedures related to personnel management. Plan and assist with department social events related to new hires. Provide assistance to Department Head with regards to promotion, hiring, and termination of all department employees.
Process applications and initiate process for potential adjunct and graduate faculty position. Assist in the hiring of temporary instructors.
Undergraduate and Graduate Student Support: Serve on Department Curriculum and Scholarship Committees. Consult and recommend changes to curriculum and process changes for review by College and University administration. Assist undergraduate and graduate students with UAConnect and other forms related to successful completion of their degree. Process tuition waivers. Make updates to undergraduate and graduate catalogs including curriculum and checksheet management. Create schedule of classes for undergraduate and graduate classes taught each semester in the Horticulture department.
Assist department recruitment and retention coordinator with student events including but not limited to, planning social events, ordering department promotional items and marketing materials related to recruitment and retention of students. Assist with upkeep and materials for department wide video directory and announcement boards.
Schedule ZOOM and other forms of remote communication meetings for Department Head and faculty/staff of the Department.
