Work History

Assistant Art Instructor

Monart School Of Art
San Diego, CA
06.2022 - 08.2024
  • I worked as a Teacher’s assistant for a summer art program for kids ages 6‐12.
  • My responsibilities included welcoming parents and students, overseeing sign‐ins and sign‐outs, facilitating art projects, providing additional support to students with extra emotional needs, maintained clean and organized workspaces, implemented lesson plans, supported and collaborated with a variety of teachers, multi‐tasked emotional kids whilestill offering close cooperation with staff.
  • I have been gratified to be invited back to this position for the third summer because the owner really enjoys my professionalism, maturity, and sense of fun.

Volunteer

Madcaps
San Diego, CA
06.2017 - 06.2023
  • I have extensive experience and expertise in serving the San Diego community as a volunteer.
  • From serving meals at Fr. Joe’s Village, to cheering on patients at Rady Children’s Hospital’s Celebration of Champions, I have a well-developed commitment to helping others.
  • I have been actively engaged in MADCAPS and volunteerism for over five years.
  • I served at our local Senior Center: Serving lunch to seniors, assisting with BINGO, visiting seniors at local senior living facilities where I would paint nails, visit, and create artwork for display at the senior center.
  • I served at Therapeutic Recreational Services (TRS) where I mentored an autistic camper, supervising him at the bay, at Boomers, and even on public transportation as we had a field trip to the zoo. In addition to the reward of helping the camper, this experience taught me to adapt to my surroundings, to think fast, and exercise patience. This position also required a background check through San Diego’s Parks and Recreation and TB test
  • I volunteered as a childcare assistant for the YMCA’s early childhood education facility as well as a volunteer leader for their youth summer camp. I assisted with art projects, crafts, and supervision of young children
  • Through the San Diego Blood Bank, I helped run a blood drive for Carter Santos, a friend’s brother who battled leukemia; this experience taught me how to successfully plan and execute an event, gather community, and become better organized.

Options Mentor

Cathedral Catholic High School
San Diego, CA
08.2021 - 06.2022
  • I was selected as an options mentor for students with special needs in my high school.
  • I assisted my mentees with staying focused in class, providing support, and ensuring effective communication between the options student and teacher and options program staff, all while developing strong friendships and advocacy.
  • My experiences have taught me patience, organization, persistence, and creativity in problem-solving.

Class Social Chair

Madcaps
San Diego, CA
06.2019 - 06.2021
  • I was elected to serve as one of the class social leaders for the junior members two years in a row as part two of my six‐year service commitment to MADCAPS (Mothers And Daughters Club Assisting Philanthropies).
  • As one of three class social leads, I worked with the senior social chairs to plan and execute social events for the class.
  • This was challenging during a pandemic as the role is intended to promote social interaction and class bonding for our volunteers and for much of the time I was a leader, we had significant restrictions on group gatherings.
  • Along with my two co‐leads, we planned three social events per year. These events included a socially distant Zoom pumpkin carving event and Secret Santa gift exchange, where we paired junior and senior members and coordinated gift drop-offs at members' homes (socially distanced!), and a beach bonfire.
  • The pandemic challenged my team to be creative and conscientious while still enabling our class of volunteers to enrich our bonds of friendship and shared purpose.
