My Materials Manager role with Select Specialty is a split position, consisting of daily operations and accounting coordination. Within the operations aspect, my team of employees was responsible for the procurement, inventory management, and daily stocking of healthcare materials for our 46-bed facility. I would routinely adjust our daily routines based on patient census. A vast majority of the procurement came from an established marketplace of vendors that we use to adequately supply our patients and staff, while still remaining at or under a fixed budget. I was able to develop and grow relationships with local vendors to solve both patient and operational concerns as they arose. Within these relationships, I was able to develop and coordinate contracts with each vendor that would be privy to our individual healthcare facility. Select Specialty in Tulsa is a hospital within a hospital structure. I was able to develop relationships and coordinate work orders with the host hospital's maintenance department. Some of the work orders I was able to complete myself. However, it felt most rewarding when I was able to complete a service task with the maintenance department, both timely and effectively. Within the Materials Manager position, both the Biomedical Department and EVS housekeeping contractual services fell under my supervision. This role helped me grow my success in building and supporting a team that kept our patients and staff safe. Like my experience at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center with The Joint Commission, Select Specialty is also governed under the same accreditation body. At the current time, I am working with both our CEO and Quality Director to prepare our facility for our upcoming accreditation survey. Preparation and task work consist of developing and maintaining documentation that addresses both OSHA and Life Safety operations policies.
Responsible for the procurement of all maintenance repair items, medical supplies, and equipment for a 49-bed regional hospital in Southeast Kansas. Also responsible for the staffing and supervision of a team of associates to operate and maintain a central supply storeroom. Within the storeroom, I had developed a startup inventory management system that governed both a min/max inventory control level and automated reorder points for each item. In reporting directly to the CEO and CFO of the hospital, it was my responsibility to develop relationships with vendors and negotiate the best purchasing practices while maintaining cost savings through a fixed budget. All order procurement was performed using purchase orders through a SAP-based computer system. CRMC was a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital. As Materials Manager, I was responsible for keeping the required maintenance and inspection records for all of the biomedical equipment in the facility. This quality flow of information was required by both JCAHO and our hospital's operations policies. Under survey, I would present my documentation of accuracy for all PM's and system of tagging all equipment that was under repair.
Responsible for the on-site inventory management for customers that varied from Municipality Shops, Locomotive Repair Facilities, and Water Treatment Plants. Working closely with each facilities manager and their respective repair and service teams, I was able to demonstrate both soft and hard cost savings through organization cabinetry using a just-in-time inventory model. I was able to demonstrate success in helping each one of my customers meet and stay below their maintenance supply budgets in the inventory control parameters we had set together. I was responsible for procurement of all product through this process using both, existing warehouse stock and sourcing of outside product via a POS ordering system. Weekly sales routes were developed and utilized to ensure all customers were seen regularly and to efficiently meet their 5S organization standards and requirements.
