Supervisory Program Specialist

  • Serves as a CYS Supervisory Program Specialist with responsibility for supervising CYS direct care staff (minimum of 8 ratios of children in a Child Development Center (Ages 0-5).
  • Prepares work schedules to meet ratio and group size requirements.
  • Provides program oversight and accountability.
  • Monitors and analyzes adult/participant ratio sheets to ensure proper staffing to ensure children are always supervised.
  • Assists with recruitment and selection of care giving staff utilizing Army CYS Standard Position Descriptions.
  • Supervises and evaluates employees based on established performance standards as required.
  • Works cooperatively with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth. Serves as member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement.
  • Ensures timely submission of personnel actions.
  • Observes in appropriate program settings throughout all hours of operation to assess and evaluate staff competency and provide feedback.
  • Assist directors and training specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth.
  • Acts as Assistant Director or Director in their absence up to 20% of the time. May work in additional CYS facilities for the purpose of providing management oversight for evening or weekend openings
  • Planned and delivered training sessions to improve employee effectiveness and address areas of weakness.
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive training and professional development program that promotes positive growth and development of children and youth IAW all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Act as Training Specialist in the event of training not being present or in between jobs.
