Fire fighting, and medical first response is the ultimate customer service career. Customers were anyone who sounded the alarm requesting assistance. Whether a 5th alarm conflagration, pulling an injured patient from an auto wreck, freeing a child stuck in a swing that he/she was too big for, (that actually happened more than once 'lol') or rescuing a puppy that fell down a man hole, dealing with strangers in emergency situations requires, cool headedness, patience, tact, and most importantly, compassion. Helping people is what customer service is all about, and I've done it successfully for the better part of 30 years. These attributes are what makes for an excellent Customer Service Representative.
