Throughout my tenure at Fiber Pad, my role evolved significantly. Initially hired as a shop hand with no prior experience with power tools or thermoforming, I quickly developed expertise and advanced within two years to become the CNC Night Shift Lead. My growing interest in CNC technology led me to transition into CNC programming, beginning with manual programming directly at the machines. Through dedicated self-study, I gained proficiency in computer-aided machining (CAM) software, earning a promotion from shop floor operations to a full-time programming role in the office.
Continually seeking professional growth, I expanded my skill set by independently learning CAD software, which culminated in my appointment as Fiber Pad’s first integrated CAD/CAM Engineer. This pivotal role involved merging the previously separate CAD and CAM departments into a unified, efficient department.
Job description dramatically changed over the years. Here is what I was doing at the end.
