Coach Rick Spear

• I finished my tenure at James Wood High School with a record of 70-10. Most notably, In our last two seasons, we captured consecutive Regional & State Championships In the Virginia Class 4.

Job duties include but arenot limited to;

• Increased player agility and conditioning levels with targeted fitness programs designed specifically for volleyball athletes.
• Promoted teamwork among players by emphasizing collaboration both on and off the court during practices and competitions.
• Assisted in organizing team-building activities such as community service projects, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among athletes.
• Organized detailed practice schedules, ensuring optimal time management for drills, conditioning, and skill-building exercises.
• Developed comprehensive scouting reports on opposing teams, identifying their strategies and suggesting countermeasures for our team to employ.

In my first travel season, I coached National & Regional level 15's teams. I served as the National Assistant Coach finishing 22nd in the Chesapeake region. As the regional head coach, we finished our season with a 26-6 record, achieving semi-finalist or higher in the gold bracket in each of our seven tournaments.

Duties included but not limited to;

• Increased team''s overall win rate with consistent evaluations of game footage and targeted improvement strategies.
• Developed strong relationships with players, fostering teamwork and communication on and off the court.
• Maintained accurate and up-to-date records of team statistics, player progress, and achievements to track overall program success.
• Enhanced team performance by implementing strategic training plans and conducting regular practice sessions.
• Managed budget effectively, allocating resources for travel expenses, equipment purchases, and facility rentals.
• Coordinated fall camps for aspiring volleyball players, fostering interest in the sport among young talents.
• Overcame scheduling conflicts creatively while maintaining fairness amongst all participating teams within district competitions.

I coached recreational teams for 3 years varying in ages from 8-14 years of age. Each year, the athletes I coached won the season championship accumulating an overall record of 48-3

• All previous athletes have gone on to make middle school and travel teams with a deep understanding of the fundamentals.

Duties included;

• We evaluated individual knowledge, skills, and strengths, and assigned team positions to maximize talent areas.
• It increased team success through effective coaching strategies and clear communication.
• Mentored athletes in setting personal goals, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and dedication in achieving success.

In my time at Frederick County, I held the position of both the 7th & 8th grade assistant coach. Throughout my years, we captured four Northern Virginia Junior League championships and have made five consecutive finals appearances.

Duties included;

• Assisted in maintaining a positive learning environment by managing classroom behavior and addressing issues promptly.
• Contributed to the development of educational programs by offering constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
• Fostered strong relationships with colleagues by collaborating on projects and sharing knowledge within the school community.
• Maintained compliance with district policies and procedures by consistently implementing guidelines as directed.
