I’ve been around work my entire life, from a young age my dad was a union electrician he would evolve me and my brother Carter. My brother was my hero when I was younger cause he would have “the cool jobs” so i devoted my teen life to follow in his footsteps. When I was 16 I had a few troubles at home so i dropped out of school and took a online ohio ged test and passed so i went to work with my cousin and started out chopping would at his work lot, from there he put me on the field working with small equipment small mowers, weedeaters and blowers. I kept at it and eventually I became his right hand man I was leading mulch jobs and on the big mowers. I learned to properly maintain the mowers and equipment. One day in early October late September I decided I wanted to better myself I talked with him and I decided to work at Valvoline oil company, I started and it was different than I was expecting. I’ve been working around cars and trucks my whole life so the most difficult part was learning their way to do it. I learned quickly and got close with fellow employees I eventually ran bay 2 for diesel trucks entirely by myself. One day I got a call from my brothers old boss Jeff Wallace I’ve known him for a while due to our love for trains and he let me know I have you a spot. In my mind I’m thinking man I’m gonna be just like my big brother. So I went immediately and took my test and my physicals. On my birthday I got a call from Railserve a big boss Mike meister letting me know that I landed the job. Come to find out I was on payroll nov 7th and started December 11th. From there I was all in I worked my way very quickly and payed very close attention and eventually now I’m spotting by myself calling the control room in suncoke. But now I am wanting to advance alittle more so now it’s my time to try.
