My main work experience has been in retail where I managed the Dairy and Frozen foods departments for two separate companies (Town and Country Grocers and Harps Food Stores) over twelve years. In this position I ordered, organized and maintained inventory stocks, trained and directed team members to efficiently complete tasks and stretched my creative muscles with inventive, fun displays designed to entice customers and move stock. Lack of advancement, growth and opportunity drove me to seek other paths for personal and financial fulfillment.
During the summer season of 2024, I joined Xanterra Parks and Resorts to work as a Laundry Attendant at their facility in Gardiner Montana which cleans and sends out linens for all the hotels and resorts in Yellowstone National Park. In this position, I fed and collected from multiple folding machines, I helped sort large quantities of dirty linens for washing, I hand folded several items including robes and blankets, I assisted with the loading and unloading of linen trucks, I organized and tagged bins of freshly washed and folded linens, and I worked with many different people from different regions and backgrounds to accomplish tasks. In this position, I gained valuable experience in seasonal resort work as well as travel.
The following winter I accepted a housekeeping position with Xanterra at The Grand Hotel near the Grand Canyon. In this position I cleaned and prepared rooms for guests with great performance reviews. I also learned the role of housekeeping inspector, where I checked the rooms after cleaning to ensure that they met high standards of quality.
My last position with Xanterra was within their retail distribution center in Gardiner, Montana during Summer 2025. This facility ships all manner of goods to the resort gift shops throughout Yellowstone National Park. In my postion, I "picked" large orders of merchandise for shipping, as well as checked other employee's picks for accuracy, followed by boxing, tagging, and loading pallets for delivery. The other main aspect of the job was processing, where I opened boxes of product, inspected for damage, ensured that tags scanned and prices matched our system. I would then either tag the product to be shipped directly to a store, or add the product to the warehouse, finding a spot and creating a tag if needed. During the process, I carefully filled out paperwork, providing accurate and vital information for the computer systems. One day, I also accompanied a driver into the park to assist with deliveries to multiple stores.
