Natural Resource Steward Intern

  • Responsible for hiking trails in the Region 3 section located in the Catskill Mountains of New York
  • During hikes collected the registry sheets found at the beginning of the hikes and replaced them with blank ones, did trail maintenance, and replaced old trail markers
  • Worked at popular tourist locations such as Kaaterskill Falls and Peekamoose Blue Hole with other stewards, giving tourists details on the nearby trails and things they should be wary of, and ensuring that they were going to respect the nature in the area
  • Collaborated with the NY/NJ trail conference team in the Catskills as well as the Catskill visitor center stewards where we would complete a wide variety of projects
  • The overarching goal of this internship was to learn how to interact with members of the public who are not very knowledgeable about the environment and how to keep it clean and safe for the animals that live there and then to maintain trail conditions so that people can continue to safely explore this beautiful area of New York.

Marine Lab Intern

Volunteer Experience

Sea Turtle Conservation and Rescue, 2019, Worked with Resident Biologist Magali Marion in Playa Blanca, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. Assisted in netting turtles, taking samples, and collecting data for conservation efforts.
