Diesel Mechanic
- General mechanic and Shop Foreman for the largest family owned school bus and charter bus company in Georgia. Over my ten year span at the company I have received multiple promotions and filled many different positions from general maintenance to sales and dispatch, as well as commercial vehicle and school bus/motorcoach operator. Working primarily in the shop I was promoted to Shop Foreman where my responsibilities included:
- Reducing downtime for vehicles by diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues in a timely manner.
- Ensured safety compliance by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of federal regulations related to diesel mechanics, Department of Transportation and Department of Public Safety guidelines.
- Troubleshot electrical system issues accurately to reduce the likelihood of recurring problems down the line.
- Researched, presented, and implemented a comprehensive work order system that allowed my team to maintain detailed records of all repairs, parts replacements, and services performed for reference during future work as well as give a complete breakdown of cost and time spent on each job.
- Boosted workshop productivity by leading a team of 2-5 mechanics and training new hires in best practices for proper maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Guaranteed adherence to environmental standards by independently researching different waste disposal guidelines, locating companies that dealt with hazardous materials, and implementing procedures that lead to company wide reforms on how to properly dispose of hazardous waste materials such as used oils, fuel spills and lavatory waste generated during repairs and general operations.
- Located, presented, and implemented licensing courses for myself and all other shop personnel to become forklift/lift truck certified.
- Established strong relationships with multiple suppliers and vendors from local to international, coordinating deliveries and inventory volume to keep parts in stock thus helping to eliminate unnecessary down times.
