I have accumulated a vast array of skills and knowledge that begun working in Medical Surgical nursing and went upward to Critical Care then paralleled over to the Perioperative services area. I honed my IV insertion skills in a patient population that is challenging. Driven, hardworking and veteran Registered Nurse bringing demonstrated patient care, medication monitoring and treatment management expertise. Adaptable and resilient with strong attention to detail, clinical expertise and emergency response experience. Bringing 26-year record of success in nursing and desiring entry level to mid level position with facility. Seasoned nursing professional offering proven clinical knowledge, natural interpersonal strengths and technical abilities. Knowledgeable about EMR charting, medication administration and interdisciplinary collaboration focused on optimizing patient care and support. Quality-focused and efficiency-driven leader.
I would travel to skilled nursing facilities in southern CA and on occasion, private homes to insert peripheral IVs aka PIV. Sometimes I would hang an infusion of IV fluid or antibiotic as a courtesy for the nurse at the facility. I also would de clot midlines or PICC lines as well as access implanted ports.
I worked in several departments while working at this surgical hospital.
I worked in a 21 bed hospital in Pre-Assessment, Pre-Op, PACU, and Inpatient Services.
I traveled to various hospitals and provided comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients but expanded to Pre-op patients, PACU patients, non chemo infusions, and Critical care transport patients! I enjoyed the diverse job experiences here.
I am very involved with animal rescue and advocacy. I was a volunteer and foster for a rescue called Paw Works in Camarilo, CA. I would assist with animal intake, washing dirty laundry, fostered approximately 6 litters of kittens and fostered 2 senior dogs for approximatel 5 years. I am very proud of this work as I made a difference!
I also volunteered to give sports physicals through my former employer Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital. Giving of my time and skills along with several other colleagues filtered much needed funds back to school booster programs instead of being lost to various places for the needed sports physicals. This helps the kids in high school.
