Registered Nurse with goal to provide exceptional nursing care. Committed to continually improving all environments for patients, families, and other members of healthcare team. Dedicated to doing job with integrity and leading others to do so as well. Continually striving to improve own skills and open to coaching. Considered hard working and driven. Able to communicate effectively with team members in a respectful, professional manner. Ready for opportunity to grow and to explore other options in nursing.
I began my nursing career on the Neuro/Stroke/MedSurg unit, where I was able to transition from nursing school to my first real job as a Registered Nurse. I learned time management, assessment skills, the beginning of communication skills, medication administration, communication with physicians, and overall confidence in my ability as a nurse. I provided a high level of individualized care to adult patients across multiple medical specialties: stroke patients, post op neurosurgery patients, med/surg overflow, psych patients, and telemetry overflow. I monitored post op craniotomy, spinal and cervical surgeries which included: drain management, dressing changes, pain management, and neurologic assessments. After 1 year, I transferred to NICU where I felt that I really grew as a nurse. My assessment skills got better and I felt compelled to be a true patient advocate. I began taking on more leadership roles such as precepting and acting as charge nurse. I am also part of our transport team and am considered a core nurse within our unit. I act as a resource for many employees and a person that managers can rely on.
