My responsibilities included being a Certified Application Counselor for the Marketplace insurance plans. I would create an account for consumers and walk them through the process of finding the best insurance plan to fit their needs at a price they could afford and one accepted at the facilities they use. I also did Presumptive Eligibility applications for individuals who were applying for Medicaid, so they could be eligible immediately. Another part of my job was helping people who were uninsured to obtain Financial Assistance through our facility. I also was at the front desk a few hours daily to answer phone calls and direct them to the correct department for assistance.

I was basically self taught in my position as an insurance counselor but built a reputation that had people coming back year after year. During open enrollment I had appointments scheduled every hour every day the office was open. I love helping people and have no problem getting along with everyone. I've also been told that people referred me to their friends and relatives for insurance help. I've been told as well that I'm the favorite waitress at the restaurant where I work part time. I enjoy staying busy and doing what I can to make someones life easier.
