To whom it may concern,
Hello! My name is Connor Dodge. I was born, adopted and raised in Glenwood Springs and have lived in the valley for most of my life. I enjoy playing guitar, weight lifting, and seeing the world as well as studying history. My goal in life has always been to be apart of something greater than myself; preserving and protecting life is one of life greatest honors, an honor and privilege I wish to achieve. As a native of Colorado, I take great pride in this beautiful state and its people. Retaining its beauty for the future generations and consider establishing a family of my own someday so all can appreciate it. In a perfect world, I would like to be surrounded by a likeminded team, family and department; and after spending so much time with the family members of Aspen Fire theres no question I have found that perfect world. Like minded, kind and humble individuals who truly care not just about the mission, but what comes before and after. The livelihood and well being of members on and off duty, their own families, and happiness. Its truly a blessed environment. To be considered a member either volunteer or career is a privilege and honor. Reading the book "Legacy", it describes how the All Blacks foster a unique and honorable culture striving to be the very best inside and outside of the game. The quotes depicted, "better people make better All Blacks" and "leave the jersey better than you found it" have echoed in my head while reading this book along with many other lessons. I cant help but replace All Blacks with Aspen Fire. I truly believe this is a parallel book describing Aspen. Its a culture I have taken to heart and would like nothing more than to help contribute to. I want to be able to look back once i retire and say with confidence, I did leave my gear in a better place than I found it. To end this cover letter I would like to end with a quote, "Inspired leaders, organizations and teams find their 'why?' - and attract followers through shared values, visions and beliefs."
Thank you,
Connor Dodge
