I was wanting to help this new store our school had recently opened so decided to come together with the lady that opened it and come up with a fund raiser idea. We came up with the Polar Plunge idea. Which first things first we sent an email out to all students from 6th-12th grade to pick their teachers that they would like to see dunked into ice cold water dunk tank. After everyone voted then we sold tickets for the highest voted teacher in each grade. Students could buy as many tickets as they wanted which would increase their chances of getting picked out of the raffle. Tickets were $1 each to make as affordable as possible.. We also had received multiple generous donations from teachers and students. The Polar Plunge took place during the freezing cold month of November and turned out to be very successful by also selling hot chocolate and donuts to the students and staff.
The Color Run fund raiser came about after the previous Polar Plunge Fund raiser. Our school recently had announced we were building a new stadium. I knew going into this that it would be a lot bigger, more people, and more expensive. Therefore I had a student that I trust help me promote and brainstorm ideas. Him and I worked on getting sponsored for this Color Run and we did just that. Open Road Renewables teamed up with us and gave us $5,000 to help promote and buy A LOT of colored powder to use for the race. I came up with a course around our school that was exactly three miles where anybody who wanted to take part in it they could. We came up with color stations where athletes were given colored powder to throw at the runners. There were prizes for the top 3 runners who finished, also their were prized for most colorful after the race, and everyone who participated also got little goody bags that our sponsor provided for us. We sold concessions foods, t-shirts, and shaved ice to make the experience more enjoyable. The profit from this fundraiser ended up being $2,200.
