Under direction of the Environmental Manager, supports the facilitation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for grant compliance and assists with all ANTHC Division of Environmental Health and Engineering (DEHE) construction project permitting and compliance.

Representative Duties:

  • Gather and analyze environmental data and prepare NEPA documents and associated environmental documentation to support funding and construction in rural Alaska.
  • Complete Federal, State and local permit applications for ANTHC DEHE projects.
  • Review preliminary engineering reports and engineering designs and identify environmental effects and permit requirements for sanitation, energy and health facility projects.
  • Interpret and apply environmental regulatory requirements including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Contaminated Sites, Fish Habitat, and Floodplain Management.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineers, Project Managers, Construction Managers and the Environmental team.
  • Attend project meetings through planning, design and construction.
  • Establish relationships with Federal, State and local regulatory and resource agencies to ensure timely issuance of permits and approvals.
  • Prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans.
  • Prepare desktop studies.
  • Maintain NEPA and Permit Tracking databases.
  • Provide support to contractors, Tribal Health Organizations and rural communities.
