2 Months- Provided comprehensive patient care for surgical patients during pre-operational, intra-operational, and post-operational surgeries. Duties included:
- Pre-Operational care included establishing IVs and administering appropriate medication per orders, placing catheters as needed, providing therapeutic communication when necessary.
- Intra-Operational care included working with care team to properly position patient per surgeon’s request, charting supplies used, assisting surgical technician with counting when requested, ensure proper labeling and delivery of specimens to lab.
- Post-Operational care includes nursing assessments to ensure proper recovery from anesthesia, monitoring for arrhythmias, vital signs, and appropriate oxygen levels. I was also tasked with post-op education which included collaboration with patient on proper pain management, dietary restrictions, wound care, and potential signs and symptoms of surgical complications.
