  • New York City offers more than 700 programs across more than 400 high schools! Your child can apply to 12 programs with one application. They can also participate in Specialized High Schools admissions.
  • Step 1. Create or Access Your MySchools Account
  • MySchools is the website you use to apply to schools and summer programs. Note that MySchools is different from the NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) which is the website you can use to view your child’s school schedule, grades, and attendance.
  • This fall, you can use MySchools to:
  • Explore high schools
  • Submit your child's application
  • Register for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test and apply to LaGuardia
  • If you already have a MySchools account, you do not need to create a new one. Simply log in to get started. Your MySchools Username is: Corrine.barton37@gmail.com. If you forgot your password, there is an option to reset it.
  • If you do not have a MySchools account, you can set one up by:
  • Visiting MySchools.nyc. Click on “Get Started” and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Then check your email for a message from MySchools. In that email, click the link to access your MySchools account.
  • Connect your child to your account by clicking “Add a child.”
  • On the next screen, enter your child’s 9-digit student ID number (OSIS). You can find this ID number on their report card or request it from their current school.
  • Enter your child’s unique MySchools Account Creation Code. (This is different from your NYCSA code.)
  • Your Account Creation Code: CCCDJB
  • Do not share this code with anyone and keep it in a safe place. If you have more than one child applying to school this year, you will get one letter like this for each child.
  • Step 2. Learn About Your High School Options
  • Explore your options – use MySchools.nyc to search for and learn about high schools. When you are logged in to your account, click the Search tab to access the high school directory.
  • Sign up for our high school admissions email list at schools.nyc.gov/SignUp for admissions tips and updates.

  • Step 3. Apply- beginning October 1, 2024
  • There are three paths to high school admissions in New York City, and you can take all three:
  • High School application: you can add 12 programs to your application in your true order of preference, with your first choice at the top as #1.
  • Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) registration: you can register to take the SHSAT and list your specialized high school preferences.
  • LaGuardia High School application: you can indicate which of the six arts programs you want to apply to and submit audition materials.
  • You can apply one of three ways:
  • Online with MySchools.nyc— Recommended! Don’t forget to click “Submit Application”!
  • Through your child’s current school counselor.
  • Through a Family Welcome Center (schools.nyc.gov/FWC).
