I have 13 years batch plant experience and I am currently working for Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company as a Chemical Lead Operator producing/handling various chemicals. I have operated reactors, blenders, and made a wide span of chemicals as my primary job. I have also learned many other aspects, skills, and other job duties within the plant throughout the years.
As a Chemical Lead Operator, I am able to operate any reactor, blender, or board in the plant. I take daily rounds in all of these areas when assigned. I am also a trainer in all of these areas. When the foreman is absent, I step up as the shift lead and still perform my primary duties. I help when I see others struggle and give advice. I work diligently and keep the team morale high.
13 years of employment and ongoing. 2 Employee of the Month awards 1 Ecolab Global Supply Chain Employee of the Year Award. I have multiple Workday Badges of my accomplishments given out by my co-workers. On a TPM team that focused on care of actuator valves and our team was able to lower valve failure by 72%. One of the plant neighbors had lost her dog so I took time outside of work and was able to help find her dog. Represented the plant in a respectful caring manner toward the fellow community. I have been chosen to participate with the plant in a WINGS program that reaches out and speaks to kids that are in halfway houses. I spoke to them about the basic skills and mindset needed to be a model employee. Updated P&ID drawings of several vessels in the plant and red lined procedures. Participated in multiple PHA's to help identify gaps in safety and processes that we can improve on. Built a replica datasheet of our Plant 1&2 board round sheet in our PI ProcessBook data trending program. It automatically keeps a live feed of all of the critical values that are recorded every 2 hours and set multi-state values that will alarm red if the values ever go out of range. As a Lead Operator, I have certified everywhere in the plant for an operator (Plant 1 (3 glass lined reactors) Plant 2, (2 Reactors) Plant 3 (2 Reactors) Plant 4 (2 Reactors) Blenders ( 2 Blending units) Plant 1&2 Board, and Plant 3&4 Board). Also a trainer in all of these positions. I have volunteered on both the ERT and Safety Committee. Helped control a flare fire upset, assisted in plant evacuation during massive ammonia leak, and stopped a run away ethylene oxide reaction by climbing into pipe rack and discovered cooling water valves had been closed. I have helped investigate several process upsets by studying both equipment in the field and trends. All vessels have a mix between both manual and automated operations. Experienced in heating and cooling with steam, cooling tower water, exchangers, tempered water systems, and hot oil systems. Experienced in charging vessels with centrifugal pumps or gear pumps from tanks and clearing back lines, charging off the ground from drums, totes, and shot totes using Wilden diaphragm pumps or vacuum pumps. Experienced in dumping bags through manway and adding paraformaldehyde prills both manual and automatic feeds while controlling the exothermic reactions in set temperature range. Experienced in feeding propylene and ethylene oxides while maintaining within pressure and temperature ranges. Experienced in stripping material and moisture through full and partial reflux using heat, nitrogen sparges, overhead condensers, and decanters. I constantly give help, advice, guidance on anything I am involved in to help strengthen our team.
