Community Involvement

  • I love the community in which I live and work. I find peace and feel my best when I can be the hands and feet of a servant to help others in need without receiving anything in return. The joy is immeasurable. Whether it is surprising my co-workers with a special treat or collecting donations for the Mason County Animal Shelter. I have volunteered as a guide during education day during Battle Days, at the Mason County Animal Shelter, participated in Toys for Kids, donated to the PPVFD food drives, and filled many Blessing boxes. I always complete a community service project or two with the students in my class. We've done a range of activities from collecting food for the Veterans Group, making cards for ill children in the hospital, to collecting needed supplies and toys for Ronald McDonald House Charities. This year in December as a cumulative activity for our Grocery Study, we collected our favorite foods from the grocery store and donated all items to a family in need in our area. Teaching children to care about others and how that makes them feel is an invaluable lesson. My husband and I also present The Elizabeth Bateman Spirit of the Band Award each year to a senior of the Black Knight Marching Band. This award is in honor of our daughter who was Drum Major and loved the band with her entire heart and soul. We love supporting the youth of our area.
