Summary

I am currently employed with a nursing agency. It gave me the flexibility I needed to attend the LVN-RN transition program. I pick up shifts at nursing homes, substance rehabilitation facilities, and hospitals. I have learned to adjust as needed to the environment around me. I previously worked as a clinic LVN for the Cogdell Clinic in Lockney, Texas. I started this job in May of 2022. I feel the clinic helped me get stronger with becoming familiar with all different kinds of medications. Previously I was a floor nurse for five in a half years at St. Joseph Covenant Health Hospital working night shift on the mom/baby unit. I will always have a passion for OB/Nursery, although it was time for a change, and I hope I can now be an asset to your workplace.

LVN Clinic Nurse

05.2022 - Current
  • As a clinic nurse I am responsible for the patient’s intake. I assess vital signs. I make sure all medications on file have the correct dosage and frequency along with making sure any new medications are added and old ones taken off. I send in refills when needed. I obtain the patient’s chief complaint. I order and release labs according to my Dr’s. last clinic note. If the patient is completely new I make sure we do a clinical history intake with the patient’s medical history so we can up date the chart. I am also responsible for administering IM and Subq injections when ordered by the MD along with administering fluids through IV as needed. I am also trained in Texas Healthsteps/Well child visits, and administering vaccines as needed. I work for an MD and Nurse Practioner so the pace of the environment depends on the amount of patients being seen between both providers. We also rotate throughout the week pulling back and administering shot only orders. We also rotate weekend/weekday call after clinic hours where I am responsible for answering patient phone calls and giving medical advice by communicating with on call Dr. and administering medication refills if necessary. I am also responsible for completing precertifications and prior authorizations that are required for the patient’s care. I have also become familiar with performing EKGs, because when RT is not available, we are responsible for doing the EKG’s ordered on our patients. I have also learned how to make patient referrals to specialists as needed. I am also trained assisting with colonoscopies.
