Perioperative Registered Nurse (Pre-Op, OR Circulator, PACU)
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative nursing assessments, including review of medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and medical clearances.
- Verify patient identification, surgical procedure, informed consents, and documentation to ensure compliance with patient safety standards
- Establish and maintain peripheral IV access in a fast paced environment , administer prescribed medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Start IV access in a high volume fast paced environment for a diverse patient population
- Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, anesthesia, postoperative recovery, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Monitor and documentation to include vital signs identifying and reporting abnormalities to the appropriate teams
- Circulating Nurse in the operating room ensuring patient advocacy, sterile technique, surgical site verification, patient positioning, and accurate surgical counts.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, and efficient surgical care.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical record (EMR) documentation throughout the perioperative process.
- Monitor and assess patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), including airway management, respiratory and cardiovascular status, pain control, neuro status and recovery from anesthesia.
- Recognize and respond to postoperative complications and emergency situations, implementing appropriate nursing interventions and administering medications as ordered.
- Evaluate patients for discharge readiness using established recovery criteria and provide comprehensive postoperative instructions to patients and caregivers.
