  • The 2007-2008 academic year, the Departments of Communication and Media Studies began the merger into the new School of Communication.
  • Acted as interim chair for the Department of Media Studies during this transitional process.
  • In addition to the normal activities of a department chair (advising, graduation checks, college-wide meetings, faculty evaluations, etc.), I represented the department on the committees handling the merger of the two departments' curriculum, faculty policies, and overall departmental (school) structure.

As the first full-time advertising faculty member within the Department of Media Studies, I restructured the advertising curriculum to provide a cohesive flow among the courses, which allowed the students to build upon each successive course, leading up to taking the capstone advertising campaigns course. I developed courses in advertising research, advertising media planning, advertising copywriting, and redesigned the advertising design course. I also initiated the process of using actual clients in the advertising campaigns course to give students the experience of working with real brands and also fostering a community of service between the university and the community. I also established and advised the student American Advertising Federation student club on campus.
