I founded my Construction Company as a Sole Proprietor and held Licensure where required.
I never advertised at all. All of my business was word of mouth and repeat customers. I always provided free and fair estimates, and would only take on a project after the customer approved the contract, price, and starting date with signatures. A completion date was always provided. Any additional work during the project was only added after I created a change order with additional cost and agreement with signatures. A deposit and draw schedule was always part of any contract.
I did many remodeling jobs, additions, cabinet building and finish, as well as brand new homes from start to finish. I did all of my own electric and plumbing where not inside of City Limits where restricted. I did all of the roofing, siding, insulation, etc. as well as all drywall or plaster, drywall, trim, and paint.
I maintained a 100% satisfactory rating with all clients due to my expert workmanship and honesty, which is likely why I was always very busy without any advertisement, other than my work being heard about and/or seen by people that became potential clients.

I have always been a hard worker with the old fashioned ethics and values that I was raised with. I have spent quite a bit of time and money to dedicate myself to the education and skills required to be good at my chosen profession. I was often called a Company man when I was 19 and they did not like it when I said thank you. Aside from being a Capricorn that was always non stop, even as a kid, I was raised with the old fashioned Mid West work ethics by my Parents. My Dad was the Plant manager of Firestone Tire and Rubber in Akron, Ohio while it was known as the Rubber capitol of the World. I have learned so much by being a great follower before I became a leader for so many years. my interaction with clients is very important to me, as they are the ones that put food on our tables. Even when not at work, I am usually working on my house or vehicles, as well as being involved with community fund raising events.
