Work History

Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Department of U.S. Air Force
Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA
01.2003 - Current
  • Aircraft Electrician (This is a federal job)
  • Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in aircraft maintenance and repair.
  • - Serves as lead technician of assigned aircraft. Responsible for Managing, performing, coordinating, and monitoring overall maintenance. Acts as technical authority for aircraft systems such as: flight controls, landing gear, doors, aerial delivery, electrical, environmental, pneumatic, hydraulic, and life support systems. Is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and servicing all components within these systems. Reviews all completed work and documentation to assure total airworthiness and prepares aircraft for flight.
  • - Instructs, Uses and maintains tools and test equipment such as; multi-meters, Environmental system testers, Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR), Oscilloscopes, Manifold break out boxes, Bonding meters, Amp meters, torque wrenches, torque bars, tension meters, and gauges.
  • - ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE AND SITUATIONAL EXAMPLES:
  • - Responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining environmental systems. This system includes the following subsystems: air conditioning, distribution, avionic/instrument cooling, Engine and Wing deicing, pressurization, heating, temperature control and OBIGGS fuel tank inerting.
  • - When presented with faulty operation of the environmental system and sub-systems I evaluate possible discrepancies through interrogation of the environmental control system controller, Manifold Controller, Pressurization controller, and the evaluation of wiring/schematic and fault isolation diagrams.
  • - Within these sub-system components inspected, repaired, modified, and replaced include; air flow sensors, air temperature sensors, avionics cooling fans, skin heat exchangers, inlet filters, augmentation valves, remote pilot valves, solenoids, positive pressure relief valves, negative pressure relief valves, conditioned air mix chambers and relief valves, air recirculating fans, heater strips, flow control valves, discharge temperature thermostats, temperature indicators, refrigeration units, heat exchangers, compressor discharge check valves, compressor discharge thermostats, water separator assemblies, coalescer bags, temperature sensors, ducting, insulation, and environmental control system controller.
  • - Requested to troubleshoot a discrepancy where compartment temperature was not maintaining desired temperature when systems set in auto mode. After taking the system out of auto and into manual it is determined that the temperature still does not increase. With the system still running inspected the ducting for blockage or leaks. A leak was detected between the mixing chamber and air distribution manifold. The leak was found to be caused by a missing slip seal. After installation of a new slip seal a full system operational check was performed and the system was returned to service.
  • - Responded to an environmental system discrepancy where the ground ventilation fan was found inoperable. After referring to the wiring diagram for this system the connector was removed from the component and checked for 115 VAC at specified wires using a digital multi-meter. With power present next continuity was checked on the correlating circuit and good continuity was found. The corresponding relay was checked for continuity and found to be open. The relay was replaced and ground ventilation operational checkout was performed without any defects.
  • - ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE AND SITUATIONAL EXAMPLES:
  • - Responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems. This system includes the following sub-systems: alternating current Generation (A/C), direct current generation (D/C), external power, electrical load distribution, emergency power generation, electrical monitoring/protection, brake temperature, anti-skid brake detection, windshield defog/deicing and lighting.
  • Evaluated discrepancies in electrical systems by interrogating the bus power control unit and analyzing wiring diagrams.
  • - Within these sub-system components inspected, repaired, modified, and replaced include: integrated drive generator, transformer rectifiers, transformers, power supplies, remote interface units, landing gear control handles, proximity sensors, storage batteries, battery chargers, electrical outlets, A/C circuit breakers, D/C circuit breakers, relays, wiring, and bus power control unit.
  • - Led maintenance team addressing 3x repeat #2 engine Bus Tie Fault; analyzed and troubleshot multiple circuits, identified shorted power supply wiring in #2 pylon, repaired wiring harness, and certified aircraft for flight.
  • - Managed team to troubleshoot external power issue; utilized wiring diagrams to identify and reposition swapped wires at connector on Bus Power Control Unit, restoring aircraft to full flight status.
  • - FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE AND SITUATIONAL EXAMPLES:
  • Executed inspections, repairs, and maintenance on fire protection systems, covering detection and extinguishing subsystems.
  • - Within these sub-system components inspected, repaired, and replaced include: engine fire detector controllers, engine fire detection assemblies, smoke detectors, smoke detector indication and warning panels, engine vaporizing liquid fire extinguishers, squibs, pressure switches, wiring and hand held fire extinguishers.
  • - Responded to a faulty fire detection system/loop B for an engine that would not test when activated. After swapping switch lights with the loop A system the problem remained. The fire system control panel was then removed. After ohming out the resistor inside, it was determined that the panel was faulty.. Replaced the environmental system fire detection control panel and certified the system safe for use.
  • - Troubleshot a smoke detector that would not energize when tested. Removed the smoke detector and connector, used jumper wires to isolate the detector from the system. After retesting, the system was still inoperable. Replaced the smoke detector and performed system operational check and returned to service.
  • - OBIGGS SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE AND SITUATIONAL EXAMPLES
  • Inspected, repaired, and maintained OBIGGS systems, including high pressure, cooling, oxygen/nitrogen separation, compressing, storage, low pressure, discharging, and fuel tank inerting sub-systems. Components inspected, repaired, and replaced included bleed pressure regulating valves, heat exchangers, pre-coolers, air separation modules, hydraulic compressors, storage bottles, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, fluid purity controllers, internal reference units (/RU), and low pressure regulators.
  • - Responded to an aircraft with a dual OBIGGS failure. Used fault insulation manual and wiring diagram. Disconnected bleed pressure regulator solenoid from #2 and #3 engines. Using multi-meter found both solenoids shorted internally. Replaced both solenoids, system operational check was performed with no further faults reported
  • - Achieved significant improvements in maintenance efficiency.
  • - Manage and certify maintenance technicians performing C-17 Auxiliary Power Unit operational checkout, On Board Inert Gas Generating System (OBIGGS) checks, Aircraft Refuel Supervisor, and Flotation Emergency Deployment System maintenance.
  • - Prime Nuclear Airlift (PNAF) qualified and performed in Nuclear Surety Inspections (NS//) with zero deficiencies, ensuring success for the
  • O PNAF program.
  • O Conducted multiple OBIGGS II training courses; qualified 14 active duty members on system. Cutting ground time by 85% due to repeat failures.
  • - RELATED SKILLS:
