The Emergency Room at Lakeland Regional is a 33-bed unit dedicated to handling a wide range of pediatric emergencies. The average nurse to patient ratio was 1:3. While working in this environment I became proficient in starting IVs, administering high risk medications, and assisting with conscious sedation procedures. I learned the importance of collaborating with ER doctors to ensure safe and effective care of patients with different acuity levels.
Part Time (15-20 hours)
As a nurse intern I aided staff in splint application, IV insertion, patient care, and registration. I became responsible for training the new nurse interns and was able to develop leadership skills. I had the opportunity to work in the adult and pediatric ER during my time as an intern.
