My primary focus as an educator is not only to teach academic concepts, but also to foster the development of essential social, emotional, and motor skills in children. I believe in providing students with the guidance and support they need to build self-confidence and resilience. Having personally experienced challenges with confidence growing up, I am passionate about being a positive role model for children who may struggle with similar issues. My goal is to help students navigate their personal growth, develop meaningful friendships, and become the best versions of themselves, all while teaching them academic skills.
At Carlos Tirado Art Classes Summer Camp, I had the opportunity to guide children in expressing themselves creatively through various art forms, teaching them the fundamentals of drawing and artistic expression. I worked with students ranging from ages 4 to 11, encouraging them to explore their creativity by creating diverse art projects using a variety of materials. Additionally, I had the privilege of helping my former art teacher, who had a significant influence on my own artistic development, allowing me to contribute to the program that shaped my passion for art. This experience further honed my teaching skills and deepened my appreciation for the power of creative expression.
As an After School and Substitute Teacher, I supervised and assisted students in completing assignments and engaging in after-school activities, ensuring a structured and supportive environment. I was attentive to the emotional and academic needs of students, offering a listening ear and guidance when they sought someone to talk to. By creating a space where students felt comfortable and respected, I was able to maintain authority while building positive relationships. I gained valuable experience working with children ranging from ages 3 to 13, which not only enhanced my teaching skills but also helped me identify the grade levels I am most passionate about working with.
Inspired by my first experience at Bufi Preschool, I returned the following summer as a volunteer, eager to continue contributing to the growth and development of the children. During this second summer, I deepened my connection with the staff, forming strong professional relationships and learning even more about the inner workings of a preschool environment. My return solidified my passion for early childhood education, and my strong bond with the staff further reinforced my desire to one day open my own preschool. This ongoing experience has been invaluable in shaping my professional goals and enhancing my skills in working with young children.
At Bufi Preschool, I collaborated closely with the director and teachers to organize engaging events and activities designed to support the developmental growth of students. Working with children ranging from infancy to five years old, I was able to foster a nurturing environment that encouraged gradual and positive development. My role as a Teacher Assistant allowed me to be fully integrated into the team, where I was actively involved in both classroom activities and teacher events. This experience ignited my passion for early childhood education and inspired my long-term goal of opening my own preschool, a dream I am committed to pursuing and building toward in the future.
