  • Provide direct 1:1 nursing support for medically fragile, high-acuity children with life-threatening conditions.
  • Primary nurse- Manage overnight 12-hour shifts independently, completing ongoing assessment, patient safety checks, treatment tasks, documentation, and family and provider communication.
  • Complex Care- for infants and children with renal agenesis, epilepsy, seizure disorders, stroke, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, glioblastoma, diabetes insipidus, congenital heart defects, and holoprosencephaly.
  • Transition- support infants and children after NICU and PICU discharge by setting up home supplies, teaching families, and monitoring closely during transition from hospital to home.
  • Respiratory & Airway Management- ventilator dependent patients requiring comprehensive respiratory assessments, tracheostomy care, trach tube changes, BIPAP, CPAP support managing ventilator and oxygen settings. Performing tracheal suctioning, cough assist device, oral and nasal suctioning, chest physiotherapy (CPT), respond to acute respiratory changes.
  • Nutrition, Vascular Access & Fluid Management- GT, IJ, enteral feedings, parenteral nutrition, PICC line IV antibiotics, urinary catheters and fluid management of complex conditions including diabetes insipidus. Maintain accurate monitoring and documentation of intake/output.
  • Medication Management- nebulizer, inhaler, GT, subcutaneous injections, topical, rectal, emergency medications, documentation and family education.
  • Neurological & Complex Care- Epilepsy, seizure, neurostorm management and documentation, including maintenance of appropriate thermoregulation. Assessing and managing nonverbal pediatric patients for behavioral and physiological indicators to meet the child's needs and prevent discomfort.
  • Family-Centered Care & Collaboration- Quickly establish rapport and trusting relationships with parents and caregivers from diverse cultural, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Providing education and hands on instructions regarding: infection prevention, emergency care, safe practices, medications, treatments, symptom management and condition specific monitoring.
