Domestic Policy Council, White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges & Universities

  • Worked with the Executive Director to devise strategies to sustain and expand federal support to HBCUs, direct efforts to strengthen the pipeline of students from secondary education to HBCUs, examine, interpret and provide guidance on federal budgets.
  • Served as a liaison with HBCU administrators and advocacy groups, including Thurgood Marshall College Fund, NAFEO, and UNCF, to access resources from the federal government.
  • Conceptualized and organized the Annual White House Summit on HBCUs in Oct. 2017.

  • Commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to recommend actions to improve internal finance and HR operations for SREB in preparation for a Federal Common Core grant.

Strategic Plan Development and Labor Market Assessment for a University System

  • Facilitated an extensive stakeholder management process (including state leaders, business and community leaders, philanthropic leaders, and university faculty/staff) to determine top strategic economic and education priorities for the state of Maine.
  • Conducted a feasibility study, including an assessment of demand from both students and employers to combine three (3) graduate professional programs into a single center for graduate professional education, that is aligned to the local and national workforce needs.

Transition Planning for Newly Elected State Governor

  • Designed and facilitated structured conversations designed to get wide-ranging constituencies (e.g., school, district, nonprofit, university, business leaders, and community leaders) to consensus in developing a state-wide K-12 education plan for a newly elected governor.
