I responded to a reported apartment fire in the City of Live Oak. Upon arriving on scene, I observed an active fire and immediately began checking the apartment for occupants. I forcibly kicked in the front door to gain entry of the main source of the apartment fire. Upon entering the residence, he encountered heavy smoke conditions that significantly limited visibility and posed an immediate danger to life. A female was heard coughing from the back of the apartment. Recognizing the urgency of the situation and the life-threatening conditions caused by the smoke and fire, I quickly located the woman inside the apartment and carried her out of the apartment to safety prior to the arrival of the fire department directly resulted in saving her life.

In August 2022, officers with the Live Oak Police Department responded to reports of an armed robbery involving the theft of a vehicle at gunpoint. Officers later located the stolen vehicle and made contact with the suspect, who was observed displaying a handgun while inside the vehicle.

Serving as the on-duty supervisor, I coordinated and implemented an action plan designed to ensure the safety of responding officers and the surrounding community. Officers carefully executed the plan while making multiple de-escalation attempts in an effort to resolve the situation peacefully and prevent the subject from harming himself or others. After approximately three hours, the standoff concluded with the suspect safely taken into custody using only the minimal force necessary. Due to the coordinated response and disciplined actions of the officers involved, the incident was resolved without injury to officers, or members of the public. The officers involved were recognized for their outstanding performance, exceptional professionalism, and dedication to protecting citizens at risk.
