Accomplishments

As the Director of Technology for Zuni Public School District I received the following acknowledgments:

I received an honorary certificate recognizing me as a member of the 2008 National Nominating committee for my mentoring efforts to assist outstanding students to advance their educational opportunities and realize their lifelong dreams.

Was recognized by The National School Boards Association As a " 20 to Watch " Educator for 2008, the tribute was created to identify the emerging education technology leaders who will inspire students and help shape the national education conversation for the next 20 years.

Was featured in the Winds of Change publication. Winds change is the premier nationally distributed magazine with a single-minded focus on career and educational advancement for all indigenous people in science, technology, engineering, and math. The feature highlighted my efforts to bring internet connectivity to the Zuni Indian Pueblo, this indigenous community had no access to Internet services, an infrastructure was not in place due to the stringent digging laws on tribal land, this hindered the school district in meeting AYP requirements mandated by the no child left behind act. Under my direction as the director of technology for the Zuni Public school district I designed a network infrastructure that would provide internet services for the Public School District as well as the Community of Zuni, New Mexico. I collaborated with the tribal government, local school board, state level public education heads, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and the local telecommunication companies and was able to complete the core of the project in less than two years bringing internet access to all of the school sites, administration building and teacher housing, it took another year to complete the last leg of the project which enabled the Zuni pueblo to have access to the internet as well.
