I was raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina where the beautiful Cardinal are seen daily.
I maintain a normal childhood and the memories are always present. I have 4 sisters plus me and I am the 4th child with 3 sisters ahead of me and 1 sister younger. The only man in our life was my daddy.
I am not saying we had a perfect family but could windows open all night. The community was safe and supportive. During the summers we went swimming, jumped rope, hopscotch and dodge ball, hiding-go-seek and many more.
Growing up with both parents was a blessing. My goal was always to help people and make a difference in the community.
I had my first child before graduation high school and put every effort into providing for him and the father (a policeman) was killed on duty. I was determined to do my best. I worked for many many years before getting my GED.
I joined the military in 1974 and during that period I was sexually assaulted and honorable discharged in June of 1976. ℹ PTSD still ongoing today.
I met a friend at first and after about 3 months we married and I conceived a second child.
Basically after military I stayed home caring for my family.
My husband worked as an accountant at the National Gallery of Art. We were married 10 years before he passed away.
During the trauma in my life was unbearable but I made it. My son works at a plant here in Asheville and my daughter is a nurse BSN and will be attending the masters program in a few months.
