Ensured reliability and maintainability of electrical design on capital projects while staying within the strategic business parameters of such projects
Assisted engineering firm with the design of an electrical distribution system upgrade as part of a $100MM plant expansion project
This included a 23,000 Hp synchronous motor fed by a captive transformer
Persuaded project and plant managements that this electrical upgrade was necessary to achieve the reliability required by the project scope
The other option was to reuse existing 30 year-old equipment, which would not have met the 90% onstream time required by the project
Designed 13.8kV distribution system as part of a HDPE unit debottleneck
This project required new 138kV substation to meet the new power demand
Convinced project team to use a main-tie-main design of the switchgear and a dual feed for the substation to improve reliability and maintainability of new substation
Designed and justified back up feeder for the surface water substation in an olefins plant
This included a new feed from Reliant HL&P and the transfer scheme between the existing feed and the backup
Inspected the switchgear and reviewed drawings
Worked with project management and plant engineering to understand the differing issues and goals of both parties and resolved these differences for the best outcome
