community by providing a safe and educational interfaith gathering. The gathering helps to develop
an understanding of the Islamic month of fasting (Ramadan), while also allowing for guests and
ourselves to learn about other faiths and religions. A pastor and rabbi from the community are
invited to come and speak, and later an open iftar is held for the community to break-fast together.
Volunteers like myself welcome guests, lead prayers, handout dates and food at sunset, and educate
guests on the Islamic holy month.
