Registered Nurse with ten years in the medical field including 5 years as a military medic, 3 years as a Medical Lab Scientist, a BLS instructor, and now a current RN in the Cardiac ICU. My professional career has had an emphasis on volunteerism, emergency and intensive care, and teaching new generations of healthcare professionals.
As an RN in a Cardiac ICU, I currently manage invasive hemodynamic monitoring such as pulmonary artery catheters, arterial blood pressures, and left ventricle assist devices. Additionally, in collaboration with respiratory therapy, I manage ventilators and titrate their pressure medications and sedation levels. I also have experience with targeted temperature management. I am also involved in research and am part of the research practice council, critical care practice council, cardiac ICU practice council, unit education mentor, new grad mentor, unit preceptor, unit super user, BLS instructor, and give education presentations on the lab.
As a Medical Lab Scientist, I had an emphasis on immunohematology (blood bank). I performed high-complexity testing on blood products and their recipients to ensure safe and effective transfusions. I also performed testing and interpretation of transfusion reactions and Thromboelastography (TEG) to help guide clinicians. Additionally, I served as a POC supervisor/consultant for two free clinics in addition to precepting nursing students on POC and collection of labs.
As a lead corpsman (medic), I supervised and mentored 30 junior sailors and maintained a camp of 1500 personnel that included treating acute injuries and illnesses with little supervision. As a corpsman, I received many early promotion evaluations, a Navy Achievement Medal, an Excellence award, volunteerism award for raising money for multiple charities. Training included emergency airways, ACLS/PALS, and emergency Field medicine. I also took TCRN as a corpsman and passed the examination to be a TCRN.

Research
I have devoted a significant amount of my medical career to helping the medically underserved. This involved partnering with Heart to Heart International on running their point of care testing in their safety net clinics. I additionally helped start and run another point of care lab in partnership with Saint Sabina Wellness Center. In the military, I sat on several committees that focused on getting funds for nonprofit organizations. I currently still volunteer for both Heart to Heart International and Saint Sabina Wellness Center while also volunteering to teach swim lessons to those who cannot afford them.
