Background:
I was born in 1991 in a rural area of Cuba. When I was 8 years old, my parents decided to move to Havana, Cuba looking for a better future. I started dental school in Havana, Cuba at the age of 18. I was about to finish my 3rd year of school, when I had the opportunity to travel to America by myself leaving home, family and friends behind with a broken heart, but with big dreams to accomplish for me and for my family. I lived in Miami, FL for many years working as a dental assistant full time while doing my bachelor degree during the evening/night hours at Florida National University. In 2019, I was accepted at LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton, FL. Half of the class (including myself) needed to relocate to a LECOM campus in Erie, Pennsylvania before starting 4th year. We returned to Bradenton, FL in May 2023 for graduation ceremony, and soon after that, I started my first job as a doctor at DECA Dental in Brandon, FL where I currently live.
