- Supervise night shift laboratory staff phlebotomist, Medical Laboratory Assistants and Clinical Laboratory Scientists.

- Working with pathologists, nurses, physicians, and outside patient care services in providing patient clinical laboratory support.

- Carrying and answering a lab general supervisor pager

addressing laboratory customer needs, questions, complaints and issues. Serving as a liaison between the laboratory and other hospital departments and outside clients.

- Helping do annual employee evaluations, competencies and training when needed. Coordinating training sessions with technical supervisors and staff on new tests and instrumentation.

- Coordinating patient and test priorities for transplants, traumas, stroke activations and operating room patient needs above routine patients

- Address staff issues such as call-offs, staff coverage, immediate staff problems with lab customers in the ED, floors, and outside client needs.

- Assigning morning staff phlebotomists for am draw assignments.

- Providing after hours chain of custody support and coroner release of specimens. Management of legal evidence for foreign objects (bullets) from the operating room for pathology, and law enforcement.

- Supporting TRAUMA level A's by bringing blood products to the emergency department as well as assessing possible additional blood product usage. Helping bloodbank when there is increased workload due to bleeders, traumas or transplants. Bringing in additional staff and coordinating with pathologists when needed.

-Coordinating lab processes and staff affecting lab production during a unscheduled/scheduled LIS or instrument downtime.

-Coordinating lab services from alternative sites such as East Campus Hospital and Surgical Hospital laboratories.

- Supporting Clinical Laboratory Scientists in troubleshooting instrument, calibration, quality control and patient sample problems. Helping as a generalist wherever needed as well as in Covid testing and reporting.

-Working in the general clinical laboratory, Surgical Hospital and Children's Blood Gas Laboratory as a generalist in the various disciplines in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, blood gas, special chemistry, and PCR. Running and reporting patient samples from automated analyzers and manual testing adhering to industry laboratory CAP and AABB standards.

- Managing staff in the preanalytics and analytic areas making sure samples are continuously processed from the pre-analytics to the analytic section of the laboratory.

- Work as a generalist in the clinical laboratory in hematology, chemistry, bloodbank and limited microbiology sections. Working with CLS's, MLT's, MLA's and phlebotomists in processing, testing and reporting patient samples according to industry CAP & AABB Standards.

- General maintenance, calibration, qc and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation in hematology (DXH's, ISED, IRIS, ACL 500, TEG, Plavix Assays, manual hematology testing), chemistry (VISTA1500, Centaur XPT, Centaur CP's, Osmometer, Fetal Fibrinectin testing.) and bloodbank (VISION bloodbank analyzers and manual testing). Limited microbiology such as gram stains, biofire PCR, and Covid testing

- Provide bloodbank support during traumas and bleeding patients in bloodbank thru emergency blood products and massive transfusion protocols when needed in this Level 2 trauma hospital. Provide extended bloodbank work-ups for patients with antibodies.

- Collaborating with staff and upper management in resolving instrument, patient and staff issues as needed.

- Work as a Per Diem NOC shift Clinical Laboratory Scientist III generalist in the CHEMISTRY (Vista 1500, Centaur XP, Osmo analyzer, BNP), HEMATOLOGY (DXH800, Sysmex1500, IRIS UA instrument, ISED analyzer) BLOODBANK (Galileo ECHO bloodbank analyzer by Immucor, and providing transfusion service) and limited MICROBIOLOGY sections of the laboratory. Providing laboratory services for the emergency department and hospital units.

- Doing maintenance, calibration, qc of laboratory instrumentation as well as patient testing.

- Troubleshooting of instruments and patient samples as needed.

- Supervision of laboratory staff (lab assistants and phlebotomists).

- Processed and tested bloodbank donor units at night after blood donation drives. Doing bloodbank serological testing of blood unit donations, testing for blood type, antibody screenings and serological testing.

- Supervised MLT's and Laboratory assistants in bloodbank donor processing of units for release and delivery to other hospitals.

- Provided transfusion services to Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage. Doing their bloodbank testing and providing blood products to their patients.

- Provided bloodbank reference laboratory services for other hospital bloodbanks in the area of Cathedral City, Indio, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs, and San Gregornio.
