- Supervise night shift laboratory staff phlebotomist, Medical Laboratory Assistants and Clinical Laboratory Scientists.
- Working with pathologists, nurses, physicians, and outside patient care services in providing patient clinical laboratory support.
- Carrying and answering a lab general supervisor pager
addressing laboratory customer needs, questions, complaints and issues. Serving as a liaison between the laboratory and other hospital departments and outside clients.
- Helping do annual employee evaluations, competencies and training when needed. Coordinating training sessions with technical supervisors and staff on new tests and instrumentation.
- Coordinating patient and test priorities for transplants, traumas, stroke activations and operating room patient needs above routine patients
- Address staff issues such as call-offs, staff coverage, immediate staff problems with lab customers in the ED, floors, and outside client needs.
- Assigning morning staff phlebotomists for am draw assignments.
- Providing after hours chain of custody support and coroner release of specimens. Management of legal evidence for foreign objects (bullets) from the operating room for pathology, and law enforcement.
- Supporting TRAUMA level A's by bringing blood products to the emergency department as well as assessing possible additional blood product usage. Helping bloodbank when there is increased workload due to bleeders, traumas or transplants. Bringing in additional staff and coordinating with pathologists when needed.
-Coordinating lab processes and staff affecting lab production during a unscheduled/scheduled LIS or instrument downtime.
-Coordinating lab services from alternative sites such as East Campus Hospital and Surgical Hospital laboratories.
- Supporting Clinical Laboratory Scientists in troubleshooting instrument, calibration, quality control and patient sample problems. Helping as a generalist wherever needed as well as in Covid testing and reporting.

- Provide bloodbank support during traumas and bleeding patients in bloodbank thru emergency blood products and massive transfusion protocols when needed in this Level 2 trauma hospital. Provide extended bloodbank work-ups for patients with antibodies.
