Field Engineer Intern

- Participated in the 16th Street Mall Restoration Project as an Intern.
- Focused Primarily on the concrete scope of the project with my mentor, but helped fill in with electrical and earthwork scopes when needed and assisted my mentor in her other two scopes of asphalt and public life as well.
- I was the onsite representative of my mentor/supervisor during concrete pours and I handled most of the face to face communication with the laborers and foreman through the course of the summer allowing her to focus on more higher management responsibilities.
- I cross referenced construction drawings and specifications before and during pours to verify layout of rebar, quality of earthwork compunction, and to check for any relevant revisions within the drawings that the foreman needed to be aware of.
- I was present for all concrete testing on all the pours I covered, verifying that the first 3 trucks were tested and then every subsequent 50 yards of concrete after that.
- I verified that the concrete trucks were within our specifications in air, temp, and slump, as well as documenting how much water was added if any. I also made sure the concrete was poured within 90 minutes of being mixed and advised foreman to send back any trucks that did not meet these specifications.
- I documented all of my quality control and progress tracking through BIM 360 and BIM 360 Field through checklists and issues.
- I assisted in verifying all issues were resolved prior to close out of several blocks.
- I ran my own small drainage testing scope ensuring all new concrete was tested once sufficiently cured and that all required parties were present.
Field Engineer Intern

- Contributed to HVAC renovation project at Thomas Jefferson High School.
- Monitored construction methods and installations, inspection and some testing processes such as concrete to verify within specs.
- Gave every new visitor to the site a mandatory site safety training presentation and verified that everyone on site was up to date on their safety training at all times.
- Had the opportunity to work within every scope of the project due to its smaller size ($25 million). These scopes included asbestos removal, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, finishing, concrete for the chiller enclosure, earthwork for the chiller enclosure, and construction clean up.
- Ran my own small construction clean up scope managing 3 laborers.
- Established rapport with clients by maintaining open lines of communication and addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
- Prepared documentation that would be used in requests for proposal.
- Utilized construction software, specifically BIM 360 and BIM 360 Field, to track progress and ensure quality of work.
- Increased safety standards by enforcing strict adherence to industry regulations and company safety protocols.
- Received introductory training on drafting RFI’s and Submittals, as well as posting them onto the construction drawings digitally.
