My name is Damon, and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished so far. In 2024, I earned my MDP Industrial Engineering Technician Certificate through the Manufacturing Development Program at Diablo Valley College. Over five months (January to May 2024), I dedicated myself to mastering skills that are critical in the industrial and technical fields. My coursework included:
Mechanical Systems and Components – where I gained a solid understanding of mechanical systems and how they work.
Introduction to Technical Drawing – learning precision and the art of blueprint creation.
Machining and Manufacturing I – building a foundation in machining processes and manufacturing techniques.
Introduction to Electricity for the Trades – diving into the basics of electrical systems, which are essential in industrial trades.
Introduction to Robotics – where I developed hands-on experience with automation and robotics, skills that are in demand for the future.
Microsoft Excel Comprehensive – mastering data management and analysis.
Interpersonal Communication – one of my strongest areas, where I proved my ability to connect, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others.
Completing this program in just five months reflects how focused and determined I am when I set my sights on a goal.
Before that, I proved my resilience during one of the toughest times in recent history. When COVID-19 first hit in late 2019 and early 2020, I stepped up as an essential worker at Aldi, the grocery store. While the world was shutting down, I was one of the first to remain on the frontlines, ensuring people had access to what they needed. I worked throughout the pandemic, from the beginning to the end, and I take pride in the role I played in supporting my community during such a challenging time.
Even earlier in life, I was honored to be named Man of the Year for 2006-2007—a recognition that still means a lot to me and reflects the positive impact I’ve made on the people around me.
Everything I’ve done so far—whether in my education, on the job, or for my community—shows my dedication, adaptability, and willingness to step up when it matters most. I take pride in who I am and what I’ve accomplished, and I know this is just the beginning.
