I am writing you today to express interest in the position of Sergeant. I have been in law enforcement for 20 plus years and feel that my experience and certifications make me a qualified applicant for that position. I started my career as a Deputy for Washoe County working in detention in 2000. I moved to the Carson City Sheriff's Office working detention, moving to patrol and being accepted onto the SWAT team. In 2006 I had the opportunity to advance my law enforcement career by getting hired by the Sparks Police Department. During my 15 years with the police department I obtained multiple training certifications which includes Taser, Baton, First aid/CPR, Horse mounted, Blood Borne Pathogens, FTO, K9 agitator roll player and Taser Litigation. 2021 I was asked to join the Sparks Municipal Court as a Marshal. During this time I worked with City Attorneys, Defense Attorneys, Defendants, Plaintiffs and Judges conducting court proceedings and warrant services. I became Range Master and obtained my advanced POST certificate. I implemented into the agency Taser and was able to conduct range training as well as POST required training for the Marshals. I was Chairman for the Northern Nevada Mule Deer Chapter where I organized our yearly banquets, secured donations, delegated responsibilities and tasks to committee members as well as recruiting additional committee members. Since 2013 I have been a Co- Chairman for the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive where my responsibilities were to contact local businesses for contributions of goods and services. I supervised 25 volunteers to set up, maintain and tear down camps during the week long cattle drive. In addition to these duties I also watched over the 300 head of cattle and 100 head of horses and managed any issues or complaints that arose. I have thoroughly reviewed the qualifications and I feel my vast experience and certifications show that I'm an exemplary candidate for the position of Sergeant. If the requirements of three service with Storey County disqualifies me for consideration, it would a disservice to the department. Dedicated Deputy Sheriff bringing many years of excellent performance in law enforcement roles. Passionate about public safety with strong knowledge of local laws and regulations. Proven history of fostering public safety and awareness through consistent patrol efforts and security details for community events.
