I have more than 20 years experience working in newsrooms, including six years as leader of a breaking news team that covered police shootings, protests, wildfires and a variety of high-profile court matters. In that time I wrote numerous stories featured in The San Diego Union-Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other publications. My work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists and the California News Publishers Association. I am a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and a leader of the long-running JSHOP, a journalism workshop for high school students.
